Research Projects
The BIO NET WEST HELLAS Cooperative cooperates closely with several higher education institutions & research centers with the aim of improving cultivation practices in organic farming, producing new innovative organic foods of high nutritional value and educating producers in the application of modern practices at all stages of the production process. It is currently implementing three serious research-educational projects.
It participates in a research project “Production of Dried Organic Agri-Food Products of High Value, Using Innovative Freeze-Drying Applications – LyoBioFood” which is funded by the national program “RESEARCH-CREATE-INNOVATE” and which aims to develop innovative, domestic know-how for the production of high nutritional value and increased distribution time, dried organic agri-food products, through the creation of a pilot Cryodrying unit (Lyophilization), medium capacity.
It participates in a research project “UTILIZATION OF CREATED ZUCCHINI HYBRIDS WITH DISEASE TOLERANCE FOR ORGANIC PRODUCTION” which is funded by the European program EU CAP Network and National Funds and which aims through the utilization of relatively recent research data (recently created new Greek Zucchini Hybrids by the Department of Plant Science of the University of Patras) to improve the productivity of Greek organic zucchini, while reducing the dependence of Greek agricultural organic farms on imports of imported zucchini hybrid seeds.
It participates in a research project “Innogrowth – Use of solar concentrators to increase the production and optimize the nutritional value of cultivated vegetables in greenhouses”, which is funded by the European program EU CAP Network and National Funds and which aims to create an innovative greenhouse that will incorporate innovative cutting-edge technology and will aim at improving the production of vegetables (lettuce), as an indicative cultivation plant of wide application in Greece.
