Agricultural Cooperative of Organic Producers of Western Greece
Bio Net West Hellas consists of 29 organic organic fruit and vegetable farmers. It is the first cooperative in Greece that has been recognized as a GROUP OF ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRODUCERS, according to Regulation (EU) 2200/96. Until today it is recognized as an ORGANIC CITRUS FRUIT PRODUCERS ORGANIZATION according to REG (EU) 2200/96
History
It has built and operates since 2007 a modern packing house of fresh organic fruits, 2,000 sqm, in Gastouni, Ilia.
The packing house is the most modern machinery for processing, standardization and packaging of fresh fruit. While most of its electricity needs are covered by the energy produced by a 100Kw photovoltaic park installed on the roof of the packing house.
In the modern packing house more than 4,000,000 kilos of organic fruits and vegetables are processed, standardized and sold with branded packaging in the European market. Mainly Citrus fruits, but also Kiwis, Watermelons, Melons, etc.
Group
The group exports 80%-85% of its production to the countries of Central and Northern Europe. Its customers are the most important importers and wholesalers of organic products in Germany, the Netherlands, France & England.
It recently installed and operates, the first in Greece, an organic freeze-dried fruit production unit, for the production of innovative high-nutritional dried fruit
The Association implements a modern Traceability system for its products, based on which even the final consumer can know the exact origin of the products he consumes.
In all production stages, in addition to the application of the biological-biodynamic way
production, the cooperative certifies for the application of quality standards,
environmental management & social responsibility ISO 22000, IFS, Global GAP, GRASP, SMETA
