Ligdas farms are in the beautiful valley of the Acheloos River, at Kalyvia community, 10 km from the city of Agrinio. About 35-40% of citrus grown in this area ( Kalyvia Agrinio) are farmed organically. The farms belong to Ligdas family and are farmed by Sotiris Ligdas, his wife Sofia Ligda and their son Giorgos Ligdas. Giorgos Ligdas in the Navelina orchard
They are old organic farmers and have been practicing it for over 10 years. The 136 acre farm consists 64 acres of Oranges (Navelina, Moro, Navel Late & Valencia), 20 acres of tangerines (Clementines, Ortanic & Nova) and 52 acres of rotating cultivations ( alfalfa, various vegetables and maize). The micro-climate created due to the proximity to the Acheloos River, helps accelerate the natural ripening of the fruit. Ligdas farms provide us with some of the first organic Greek tangerines and oranges which we market in late October every year. This combination provides perfect nutrition to the plants, keeping the soil alive and healthy.
