Kousoulas Farm

Kousoulas farms are in the beautiful valley of the Acheloos River, in the community of Neochori, 10km from the town of Mesolonghi. They belong to Kousoulas family and are farmed by Kousoulas Giorgos, his wife Kousoula Maria and their son Kousoulas Vangelis.

They are relatively new members of the Bio Net West Hellas and have been practicing organic farming for the last 7 years.

The farms , total area 180 acres, consist of 8 acres of Navelina oranges, 5 acres of Clementines, 13 of Kalamata olive trees, all with trees of productive age.  In another 100 acres, young plantations have been planted, 13 acres of which are Nave Late oranges, 17 Nova tangerines and 70 acres olives, all young trees which are expected to bear fruit in 2-4 years.

In the remaining 54 acres various cultivations are rotated, mostly open air and greenhouse vegetables (tomato, spinach, radish, rocket, lettuce, watermelon, melon, cauliflower etc) which constitute the bulk of the organic produce of Kousoulas farm. The growing of vegetables is alternated by the growing of alfalfa with the aim to the fields “resting” and being enriched with nutrients.  The farms are in the beautiful Acheloos Valley, between the east bank of the river and the Lagoon of Mesolonghi.

The fertilization of the farm is achieved by the use of manure from organic sheep and goats, organic plant compost and the application of rotating cultivations. This combination provides all the necessary nutrients for the perfect nutrition of the cultivations, keeping the soil alive and healthy.

The micro-climate which is created due to the location, combined with the alluvial soil and the organic fertilization, contribute to the original, exquisite taste of the vegetables.

In the olive farm, there is a small plant of processing, standardizing and packaging of the olives produced there. All the electricity  needs of the farm are covered by a photovoltaic park 0f 100kw yield in the farm. The surplus power is sold to DEI (State Power Supplier).

The owner of the farm is checked and certified for his organic methods by the certification body  IRIS (GR-BIO-06) and has the following certification number:
