 In the South- West hill of mountain Varthousio with a medium altitude of 1.100 m and in a distance of 50 km from Nafpaktos, there is Ano Hora Nafpaktias, former Great Lompotina.
Here was installed, afterwards the capture of Istanbul, one of the most important families of Byzantium, the family of Kannavos. During the revolution of 1821, lived here the brothers George - Logothetis and Anagnostis Kannavos, as well as their uncle Antonis, one of the first members of the Friendly Company.
The last Kannavo's descendant, was Yannis Kannavos, a lawyer. He was existed one of the founding executives of party of Liberals of Eleftherios Venjzelos. Despite his big fortune that had received from his father, it died very poor in 1950, having allocated all his fortune in the policy without leaving any descendant. For his political career were sold also his last asset, the mansion which was bought in 1925 by Vasiliki Kostogianni.

 With decision of Ministry of Culture in 1997 it was characterized "as historical perceivable monument, because it constitutes characteristic sample of popular culture, important for the study of Architecture".
